Any amateur theatre company organized for at least one year prior to the state festival, which has produced at least two shows prior to the state festival entry, and is governed by a board from the community, is eligible to enter. A show entered in the festival may be a cutting of a full-length play or musical, a one-act play, or any performance of a theatrical nature. The total length of the play, including introductions, scene changes and curtain calls may not exceed 60 minutes. Each production is allowed a maximum time of 10 minutes for set-up and 10 minutes for strike (in addition to the 60 minute performance time) for a total of 80 minutes.
Because the NACT Festival is a part of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Festival cycle. There are numerous festival rules that must be adhered to. Click here for the condensed Festival rules which will hopefully answer some questions you may have regarding the process if you have never entered a production, or need "refreshing" on the guidelines. You may also connect to the AACT Website at www.aact.org to read and/or download a copy of the entire AACTFest Handbook.
