Any amateur theatre company organized for at least one year prior to the state festival, which has produced at least two shows prior to the state festival entry, and is governed by a board from the community, is eligible to enter. A show entered in the festival may be a cutting of a full-length play or musical, a one-act play, or any performance of a theatrical nature. The total length of the play, including introductions, scene changes and curtain calls may not exceed 60 minutes. Each production is allowed a maximum time of 10 minutes for set-up and 10 minutes for strike (in addition to the 60 minute performance time) for a total of 80 minutes.
Because the NACT Festival is a part of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) Festival cycle. There are numerous festival rules that must be adhered to. Click here for the condensed Festival rules which will hopefully answer some questions you may have regarding the process if you have never entered a production, or need "refreshing" on the guidelines. You may also connect to the AACT Website at www.aact.org to read and/or download a copy of the entire AACTFest Handbook.
A summary of the entry fees for a production is a follows: $200.00 entry fee (this covers registration fees for ALL individual members of the performing production, including actors, crew & directors); $60.00 AACT Entry Fee, if your theatre is NOT a current member of AACT. (If your theatre IS a current member of AACT, you do NOT pay this $60.00 fee); $40.00 NACT Theatre membership dues, if your theatre is NOT a current NACT member. (If your Theatre IS a current NACT member, you do not pay this membership fee); $20.00 individual membership dues for each person in the performing production, including actors, crew & directors, OR $35.00 family membership for family members in the performing production. **NOTE: There may be an additional charge (approx. $8.00 - $12.00) for each person attending the Sunday Awards Brunch/Lunch, if a meal is scheduled.
