About Us

Founded in 1966, the mission of NACT is to foster the development and growth of Community Theatre throughout Nebraska.

To that end the purpose of the organization is:

  • To promote public interest in such development and public appreciation of its importance.
  • To encourage and assist the development of new community theatre organizations throughout the state.
  • To improve the quality and standards of community theatre in the state.
  • To develop cooperation among existing community theatres in the state through exchange and sharing of ideas, equipment, stage properties, costumes, talent and other appropriate capacties.
  • To encourage members and workers in its constituent theatres to attend productions by other such theatres.
  • To conduct activities of an educational or charitable nature for the benefit of the public.

Every other year NACT hosts the state community theatre festival as part of the American Association of Community Theatre (AACT) biennual festival cycle.  During years without a festival NACT hosts a state convention focussing on educational workshops and networking opportunities for volunteers and staff of the state's member theatres.

NACT's Board of Directors is composed of 10 elected members from throughout the state.  Click the link at the right to meet the current board and officers.
